Thanksgiving day for me is a time of reflection. I have much to be grateful for, my health and that of my daughter’s, the opportunities afforded to me to write and a very special and unexpected treasure that when I began creating this blog never occurred to me would happen, getting to know so many people from around the country and having the opportunity to converse, share and develop friendships with people who I would otherwise have never known. That has added a richness to my life that is beyond measure and I thank each one of you for that.
I would also say that there are many of us who are elated and grateful that two of the school board challengers won their races. Peter Maier conceded to Sharon Peaslee yesterday and Marty McLaren won hands down over Sundquist. Now we will have two people on the school board who are aware of the issues and are Broad-free. Congratulations to both of them for a hard-won victory.
Have a wonderful day and know that I am grateful to all of you. Keep those cards and letters coming!

They will call them dirty, they will call them lazy, they will call them homeless, they will call law breakers, and they will call them commies. They will pull out all the old names they used during the civil rights movement, and the ones they used during the Vietnam War. They will tear gas them, they will pepper spray them, they will hit them with batons, and they will arrest them.
I say they are the only ones standing up for all of us. These are our brothers, our sisters, our mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, and our sons and daughters. I am proud of them!
I joined them while in Chicago, I joined them while in NYC, and I’ll join them in Hartford this day of thanksgiving. I will break my bread with those who care for the poor, the homeless, the hungry, the unemployed, and the needy. Why- because there go I, but by the grace of god.
The one percent, the ones that were bailed out, the ones who robbed our pension funds, the speculators who gave us the Real estate bubble, the stock bubble, the ones our leaders say can’t sacrifice another penny, they will drink champaign, and tell jokes, and pull out those old names to hide their creed. I wonder where Christ would break bread this day of Thanksgiving?
This is our America, and we are coming to take it back from a Supreme Court that ruled corporations are people, and can spend as much money on elections as they want. America is for sale.
So America use your right to assemble, and break bread with those that care for all Americans.
Walking to DC,
Jesse
Amen.
Here’s a wish for a thankful day & here’s thanks for your great work on behalf of the community.
