Both the Seattle Education Blog and the Seattle Schools Community Forum have reported on the Seattle School Board’s unanimous vote this Wednesday supporting a resolution to oppose the controversial charter schools initiative I-1240.

But over at the city’s only remaining print newspaper of record: Crickets — and problematic free ads for Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna.

The Seattle School District is the largest public school district in the state, making this resolution obviously newsworthy, and a significant vote of No Confidence in I-1240.

Could the Times’ silence on the growing community opposition to the heavily financed charter school initiative have anything to do with the fact that the paper endorsed I-1240?

If so, this is further evidence that true journalism increasingly takes a backseat to the publisher’s political bias at the Times.
